Hello!

June 11, 2009

So I’ve decided to jump on this massive media locomotive of blogging. One reason– I don’t want to become one of those old codgers who hates computers. I love my grandpa and all, but his love affair with his Apple IIE (circa 1983) is simply stubbornness halting new smarts.

About me: I am a student at DePauw University and I grew up in Franklin, Indiana. I love altering clothes, creating things, staying active, poetry… basically everything this blog will be about. I have many ideas for future posts but right now I will leave you with a little taste of the street where I live.

I was running the other day and I could not resist running back to my house, grabbing my camera, and snapping some pictures of this scene. It has 2 of my favorite things in the world: corn field lines and newspapers.

The view reminded me of a poem by Percy Bysshe Shelley:
“. . . The wingèd seeds, where they lie cold and low,
Each like a corpse within its grave, until
Thine azure sister of the Spring shall blow
Her clarion o’er the dreaming earth . . . “

Summer is just beginning and the corn seeds are no longer corpses in graves, (and I can finally wear flowers in my hair!) the little corn plants are adorable little toddlers before they become knee-high teenagers by the Fourth of July…

Anyways, new summer– new blog… I hope I can share ideas and meet new friends along the way!
