DIY Lariat Necklace
I’m a big fan of Western-inspired attire– I wear my black cowboy boots almost every day, I hand-beaded these cowboy boots, and I think Montana is one of the greatest places on Earth. When I was making this lariat necklace over the weekend, I kept thinking that I was making the lady version of a bolo tie. I asked Sean if he would ever wear a bolo tie and he said, “No way. I’m not from Texas.” Well neither am I but I would totally wear one. The perks of being a girl. ๐Ÿ™‚

The supplies for this necklace were actually in the January box from For the Makers. I posted about For the Makers before on the rhinestone headband I made, but I really love the quality of materials and the thought they put into the boxes they send each month.

To make the lariat necklace, first you need to fold your chain in half and start wrapping the embroidery thread around the chains.

After you wrap about an inch and a half, spread the chains apart and bring the thread down the middle. Secure everything with super glue.

Do the same at the other end and snip your extra thread.

And that’s it! A very simple necklace that looks perfect on an outfit all by itself.

Hey…I know that jacket. And that dress. : ) Also, love the necklace! Good call. Tell Sean its ok…he'd have to be an Ollllllld man from Texas or a young fashionable girl to rock this necklace anyway!

Is this the kit from The Makers? Or did you come by these items yourself? If so, where did you get the chain?

The chain is from For the Makers, but you can get chain at a trimmings or craft shop! I'm also a big fan of using broken necklaces. ๐Ÿ™‚

I did find a really cool looking chain on Amazon, though!
