NYC Christmas Bucket List: A Wrap-Up

NYC Christmas Bucket List
A bit of a hodgepodge wrap-up to my NYC Christmas bucket list, a few of the items didn't quite get crossed off, (Didn't see the Barney's window display, made Christmas cookies for my dog instead of myself [More on that to come. ;)]). But all in all, it was a really fun project and it was a fun way to get into the holiday spirit. :) Also, I learned that you don't go to Midtown near Christmas. (#crowdscrowdscrowds #nowheretowalk)

From pups in holiday sweaters to Times Square, here is a little wrap up of the rest of my holiday bucket list. :)

Adele and Sean have an irrational fear of Macy's so I made them come in to see the holiday decor.

NYC Christmas Bucket List: Santacon + Rockefellar Christmas Tree

NYC Christmas Bucket List
This past month I've been crossing a few things off the NYC Christmas Bucket List my roommates and I made after Thanksgiving. We've been skating in Central Park and drank eggnog outside the public library, but this past weekend was packed full of holiday outings. :) First we went to Rockefeller Plaza to check out the huge tree. (Tip: Don't go to the touristy holiday spots close to Christmas. They are SO PACKED.)

We then walked from 50th street down to the East Village and checked out Santacon. Santacon is a huge bar crawl where part of the proceeds from the participating bars go to charity. Wherever we walked there were tons of Santas, Christmas penguins, people dressed up as presents... everything. Turns out Santacon was a bit frattier than I anticipated, but it was still fun. :)
This is what Adele dressed like for Santacon:
Gnome for Santacon
She called herself a holiday gnome, others called her a Santa on a bender.;)

We then left Santacon and went to a little party in Park Slope. (After walking through Grand Army Plaza. See the little gnome face in the corner? :)

And then on Sunday a trek to "The Nutcracker" in Brooklyn. A pretty packed + exhausting weekend, but sometimes it's really nice to have a few days full of cheerful activities. :) I'll try to top it when I'm back home in Indiana this weekend! <3

DIY: How to Make a Bow Ear Cuff

DIY: How to Make an Ear Cuff
The other day when I was looking around Etsy, I found this awesome ear cuff and I had to try to figure out how to make it. While something as dainty and cute as this little cuff usually isn't quite my style, (I go for loud, colorful, and over-the-top) I thought it was too cute to pass up. :)

You need:
-Jewelry pliers
-Wire
-Wire cutters

Step 1: First you need to twist two pieces of wire together so that it becomes one piece of wire.

Step 2: With one end of the wire hanging out, wrap the other around the widest part of the pliers to make a loop.

Step 3: Switch sides and make another loop to mirror your first loop.

Step 4: Bring the longest end of the wire out about 1/2'' and loop it back towards the bow.

Step 5: Repeat on the other side and wrap the wire around the middle of the bow to secure everything in place.

Here are my attempts before I finally got it right. :)

NYC Christmas Bucket List: Eggnog in the Library

NYC Christmas Bucket List: NY Public Library
Over the past couple weeks my roommates and I have been tackling a few things off of the NYC Christmas bucket list I made. Two weekends ago we went ice skating in Central Park and last weekend Adele and I drank the most Christmassy drinks outside of the NY Public Library. The original plan was to drink eggnog in the library, but when I started to think about what exactly that would entail... Probably a flask full of eggnog... And then the problems cleaning said flask... And the fact that the eggnog would be warm and perhaps curdled... Eek. I decided that it would probably be better to drink an eggnog latte outside the library. Plus, it crossed off two items off the list! :) (Drink Starbucks' most Christmassy drink + eggnog in the library.)

I've walked by the library so many times in the past, but I've never gone in. The library is right in the middle of the city next to Bryant Park. This summer, Sean spent a bit of time there studying for the MCAT, but I've never had a test like that. (Thank goodness.) :)

The inside of the library is pretty magical. It smells like old paper, your footsteps echo from all the stone floors, and everyone is busy at all the tables and in all the nooks and crannies.

A pretty good NYC Christmas outing. :)

NYC Apartment: Christmastime

New York City Apartment: Christmastime
Our (very little) NYC apartment, all cozy and decorated for Christmas. :) This little 700-square-foot little place and I have spent a lot of time together over the past couple of months and I'm pretty happy with some of the things my roommates and I have crafted up as decor inside. We haven't spent very much money fixing everything inside, just a bit of time and a lot of exacto-knifing, Mod-Podging, and street-scrounging. (Seriously, the streets of New York City are like free garage sales at times. [Which always end in a lot of 409/bleach.]). :) I want to talk more about where everything came from in another post about our apartment without all the Christmas thingamajigs, but for now, let's talk about twinkle lights and Charlie Brown Christmas trees. :)
