As a girl with pretty
unruly curly hair, I have a few go-to tricks for taming the tresses. One of my favorite ways to control the craziness up top is through accessories-- especially headbands. From
flower headbands to bow headbands, I love em. (I also just love
making bows in general because they are so easy and fun.) ;)
How to Make a Bow Headband:
You need:
-Fabric
-Glue Gun
-Needle & Thread
-Headband
 |
Step 1: Take your fabric and cut it into a rectangle. Fold the long sides of the fabric into the middle and glue a little dot so that the fabric doesn't move. |
 |
Step 2: Now take the other ends and fold them into the middle as well. Glue the edges down with a couple dots from the glue gun. |
 |
This is about how much glue I used. |
 |
Step 3: Now cut another piece of fabric into a little strip. Fold the sides of the fabric into the middle and make a line of glue to hold everything in place. Then you can wrap the middle strip around the larger rectangle you were working with earlier. Scrunch the middle of the larger rectangle and wrap the little strip around the middle to keep it in place. Glue the smaller strip in place on the back of the bow. |
 |
Step 4: Next try on your headband and figure out where you want your bow to rest on your head. Glue the middle in place. Then, with your needle and thread, stitch the ends down to the headband. If you are using a plastic headband, you can just sew around the headband instead of through it like I am in this photo. |
 |
Step 5: This last step is optional, but I think it makes the bow look so much nicer. You can cut a piece of fabric to go on the back of the bow so that everything really stays in place. :) |
And you got it! :)

Good luck! :)

very cute! I'm going to have to make one of those.
So sweet and simple!
This is exactly what I was looking for, I have a sloo of "blank" barrettes, and I wanted to make the big bow barrettes that I used to wear growing up in the early 90s.
OH my gosh!! I love love LOVE your hair! I have similar hair to yours and I would love to know how you have yours cut!
Haha! @Mags, it's just layered! Sometimes my sister cuts it... which I don't recommend. :)
I know this is no-sew, but it is fabric and I simply love it! I hope you will consider uploading it into the SewSet forum as an accessory! Thank you so much! http://www.sewset.com
